Competition Format

During sign-in, competitors will select one of the following divisions.

Division 1

Select this division if you are able to flash a boulder of the White or Purple Tag Ranges.

(V0-V3)

Division 2

Select this division if you are able to flash a boulder of the Blue Or Green Tag Ranges.

(V4-V7)

Division 3

Select this division if you are able to flash a boulder in the Black Tag Range

(V8+)

This Round will take the form of a Modified Redpoint Style Competition.
Competitors will have 3 hours to climb in either the morning or afternoon session. There will be 50 boulders to choose from numbered 1-50 in ascending order of difficulty. Each climb will be given an associated point value and competitors will be scored based on their top 5 hardest sends. Competitors will be limited to 5 attempts per boulder.
The top 3 climbers in Division 1 and 2 will receive a prize and the overall top competitors will go on to compete in the finals round!
5 climbers will qualify to compete in the womens category and 5 climbers will qualify to compete in the men’s category of the Onsight Style Finals Round.
For this round competitors will not be allowed to see the boulders prior to the start of the round. They will be called on to the mats one at a time and will have 4 minutes to attempt each of the 3 final boulders. The scores for this round will be based on the following:
1. Number of Tops
2. Number of Zones
3. Attempts to Top
4. Attempts to Zone
The top 3 competitors in each group will win our finals prizes with the grand prize going to the champion of each category!

FAQs

No experience is necessary to compete! By separating the competitors into divisions, everyone competes with climbers at a similar skill level to themselves!
The Competitor Ticket is your pass to compete in the comp and have a chance to win epic prizes and includes a climber gift bag with an exclusive event t-shirt and merch from our event sponsors!
Competitors will be given a score sheet at the beginning of the competition and must have each of their attempts checked off by a fellow competitor. Our staff will also be judging the competition to ensure fair play. Competitors will be rank based on the point values of the 5 highest scoring boulders they complete during the qualification round.
The finals round will be scored according to the IFSC system. Essentially each boulder will be marked with designated “Start”, “Zone” and “Top” tags. Competitors will be scored based on:
1. Number of Tops
2. Number of Zones
3. Number of Attempts to Top
4. Number of Attempts to Zone
Competitors should select their division based on the difficulty of boulder that they are currently able to flash at CoMo Rocks. A flash is defined as climbing a boulder on your first attempt with no prior rehearsal of the individual moves. If you are unsure of which division to pick, select the division that corresponds to the tag that you are most confidant you will be able to flash.
Competitors who select the incorrect division, whether intentionally or otherwise, will be automatically bumped to the correct division.
